Default Delta Airlines, you suck! - 12/04/08, 04:36 AM

Last summer my wife and I flew to Ukraine through Delta and one of our bags got "lost" [JACKED]. Some bastard at the Ukrainian airport must have jacket it. We of course opened a claim. We called the KBP airport the next day and they told us that our bag was found and then on the next day they said that they were trying to get it over to us. A few days later they said that they didn't find our bag!

Back in the state we faxed the needed paperwork to Delta and about 4 months later, yesterday I receive a letter from Delta denying out claim!

...Thank you for the additional information concerning your missing luggage on your July 23, 2008 trip. After further review of our files, we are unable to locate any record of your loss prior to the receipt of your claim for on September 15, 2008.

The airlines consider clams that are presented in writing within twenty-one days from the date of travel. Because submittal of your claim form failed to meet this requirement, we respectfully decline to honor your claim. However, if you have insurance coverage that will provide for payment, we will be glad to cooperate with your insurance company in this investigation.

We realize this is disappointing for you but trust you will understand our position.

Sincerely,

Angie Thompson-Morris
Clams Manager
Corporate Customer Care

Can you believe this? We were out of the country for over 30 days and foreign countries aren't exactly like the USA. Hehe, in the town where we stayed, friends of ours didn't know what GPS was!

I emailed the corporate office... we'll see how this ends. I intend to escalate my issue to the top!

Thumbs up PayPal Fund? - 12/05/08, 08:53 AM

How about you guys start a PayPal fund for me?

J/J!

I'm getting GTA IV today!!! I will make sure to [in the game] walk into the airport with scissors and show Delta that it sucks to "lose" things. You know... some things aren't replaceable.

Default "Lost" - 12/05/08, 09:07 PM

The bag contained my expensive dress shoes and lots of American goods for parents in law.
Stuff they can't buy there. Lots of stuff from Costco!

Default Delta Rebuttal - 01/05/09, 03:04 PM

I faxed Delta this letter:

...How are you not able to locate the record for our loss prior to the

receipt of our claim form on Sept. 15, 2008?

If there is no record of loss why do I have a File Reference Number:
KBPDL10653 [From Ukraine, right after our flight] ???

- As mentioned in my phone calls with your customer service
representatives [I called from Ukraine to USA] that the conditions of
where we were staying didn't allow us to fax the need form within 21
days. [Ukraine isn't the United States...] We were told that it was no
problem and to do it back in the states and also submit for expense
reimbursement.

-We are also requesting $250 [$125 x 2] for expense reimbursement as per

your policy. The belongings of the lost luggage was of my wife and myself.
We have no receipts, no one gives receipts in Ukraine, and credit cards

weren't accepted. We of course spent over $250 purchasing the similar lost items
for a higher price since those items are imported from the USA.

The letter I received was signed "Angie Thompson-Morris Claims Manager
Corporate Customer Care"

If this can't be resolved in your department, what is my next step of
escalation?

I received this letter from Delta a week later:

...Thank you for your letter making further reference to your claim.

We have again reviewed the entire file to determine if we overlooked anything which might support a more favorable conclusion. As previously mentioned, written notification of loss must be received within 21 days after the date of travel. Under the circumstances, we must continue to decline your request for payment.

If you have insurance coverage that will provide payment, we will be glad to cooperate with your insurance company in their investigation.

Your file will be retained, and if anything new develops regarding your claim, you will be advised promptly.

Sincerely,

Angie Thompson-Morris
Claims Manager
Corporate Customer Care

This isn't over yet!
