Last summer my wife and I flew to Ukraine through Delta and one of our bags got "lost" [JACKED].

Some bastard at the Ukrainian airport must have jacket it. We of course opened a claim. We called the KBP airport the next day and they told us that our bag was found and then on the next day they said that they were trying to get it over to us. A few days later they said that they didn't find our bag!
Back in the state we faxed the needed paperwork to Delta and about 4 months later, yesterday I receive a letter from Delta denying out claim!
...Thank you for the additional information concerning your missing luggage on your July 23, 2008 trip. After further review of our files, we are unable to locate any record of your loss prior to the receipt of your claim for on September 15, 2008.
The airlines consider clams that are presented in writing within twenty-one days from the date of travel. Because submittal of your claim form failed to meet this requirement, we respectfully decline to honor your claim. However, if you have insurance coverage that will provide for payment, we will be glad to cooperate with your insurance company in this investigation.
We realize this is disappointing for you but trust you will understand our position.
Sincerely,
Angie Thompson-Morris

Can you believe this? We were out of the country for over 30 days and foreign countries aren't exactly like the USA. Hehe, in the town where we stayed, friends of ours didn't know what GPS was!
I emailed the corporate office... we'll see how this ends. I intend to escalate my issue to the top!
